The Underground Clown Club is a new writing theatre company, founded in 2010 by Andrew Skipper and Katie Overstall, who met at Royal Holloway, University of London. After bonding over a mutual love of Spike Milligan, they began writing together, creating short plays, which eventually became the trilogy Pictures, Petals and Rain.
Following the success of Pictures, Petals and Rain, the pair decided to pursue their love of poetry, creating spoken word show Love & Rabbits, which has been performed at venues and festivals across the country, including runs at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the Etcetera Theatre in London, as well as performances at Accidental Festival 2014 and Greenbelt 2015 & 2016.
2015 saw the company celebrate their fifth anniversary with their Five Years, Five Months, Five Shows season, featuring five performances of works old and new across the last five months of the year. The season included a revival of short play A Table Set For Two, a new version of the Christmas play, The Boy Who Lost Christmas, and of course, the company’s signature show, Love & Rabbits.
Since then they have produced a five star sell-out horror comedy, Knock Knock, for London Horror Festival and appeared in their first children’s show, The Little White Bird, at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley. They continue to produce new work in London and throughout the country.
